Ryan Lochte Tweeted a Picture of What His Insane 10,000 Calorie Diet Looks Like (Pic)
Remember the 2008 Summer Olympics, when America fell in love with Michael Phelps, and we all learned that the kid consumed between 8,000 and 10,000 calories per day, often in the form of Big Macs? At the time everybody was like, “Damn that’s incredible! Michael Phelps is superhuman!” But the reality is that’s standard for elite athletes who train eight to ten hours per day. To bulk up for Hercules, for example, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ate seven complete meals every single day.
This of course is why so many athletes get fat when they retire. They stop working out constantly, but they don’t stop eating constantly, so their calorie deficit goes to shit.
Why do I bring all this up? Because yesterday Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps’s teammate on the USA Olympic Swim Team, got on Twitter and pointed out to the world that he, too, lives on an epic 10,000 calorie diet while training.

Some people are reporting that this just a single 10,000 calorie meal, but that’s ridiculous. It’s obviously everything the guy is going to eat in one day. That doesn’t mean it isn’t damn impressive, though. Lochte is a calorie burning machine.
