Marlins’ Dan Jennings Takes a 101-MPH Line Drive to the Head (Video)
Normally, people getting hit with things is the height of comedy. But that comedy disappears when there is real injury or cause for concern, as there was when the Marlins’ Dan Jennings took a liner to the head that was clocked at 101 mph. Yikes. He seemed to be upright and aware, but I don’t imagine a scenario when that doesn’t at least give you a concussion.
Take a look at the play and the aid given to Jennings after the play took place:
Perhaps the scariest moment is when Jennings is seen staggering after the contact. It reminds me of the requisite scene in a horror film when a character has a serene, perplexed look on their face, then they turn around to reveal the knife in their back.
Late last night Jennings was, in fact, diagnosed with a concussion, hence the odd behavior. Fortunately, a CT scan came back negative, so there’s no indication of further damage, but there is still no timetable for his return to the mound.
