Yasiel Puig Nearly Hits Matt Kemp with an Angry Bat Flip (Video)

Yasiel Puig has his own style about him, and a big part of his chill approach to the game of baseball is his signature bat flip (normally) upon getting walked. However, tossing a bat isn’t all fun and games. It’s a flying piece of lumber.

So what we call a bat “flip” when Yasiel Puig flies out, is actually a pretty pissy toss of the bat in response to popping out. And close to the trajectory of that bat “flip” is Matt Kemp, who’s taking cuts in the on-deck circle.

Here’s the video. It takes about halfway through to get to a useful angle:

To Matt Kemp’s credit, he doesn’t chuck the bat back at Puig, which would have been understandable.

There’s nine opposing players, two opposing coaches, and four umps on the field. Yet Puig still manages to throw the bat at his teammate.

I guess that’s just Yasiel being Yasiel.
