Jadeveon Clowney Looks Pretty Damn Good During Preseason Game vs. Falcons (Videos)
The Houston Texans had a pretty tough decision to make at the 2014 NFL Draft.
On the one hand, after giving up on Matt Schaub and replacing him with a respectable but unexciting Ryan Fitzpatrick in March, they could have taken Johnny Football with their No. 1 overall pick. At the very least that pick would have generated a ton of excitement, and at the very most it could have given them a potential superstar on offense.
On the other hand, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was the consensus best player available in the draft. And if they drafted him, the Texans would add another beast to their already ridiculous core of defensive juggernauts.
Of course, in the end the Texans went with option two: average offense, fearsome defense.
So how’s that working out so far? Well, judging by the huge back-to-back plays Clowney delivered against the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, I’d say it’s working out really well.
The first was a thunderous hit that knocked Atlanta running back Antone Smith into next Tuesday:
And the second was a sack on Matt Ryan…after blowing past a Falcons lineman like he wasn’t even there:
I guess maybe Jadeveon Clowney’s “motor” is just fine, huh?
