Cleveland Browns Score Hail Mary Touchdown in Dying Seconds, Lose Game on Failed Two-Point Conversion (GIF)
If you watched the Cleveland-Washington preseason game on ESPN last night and you don’t live in Cleveland or Washington, it was probably only because you wanted to see Johnny Football. It wasn’t because you were expecting a really exciting football game. So you probably flipped channels as soon as the Browns put third stringer Connor Shaw into the game.
Well, guess what? If you did that, you missed the most exciting play of the game. So haha.
Trailing 24-17 with the clock running out, the aforementioned Shaw—who actually went 8/9 and outperformed both Manziel and Brian Hoyer—heaved a hail mary into the endzone. There, instead of just batting the ball down and ending the game, one of the Washington defenders decided it would be fun to leap into the air and intercept the ball—only instead of intercepting the ball, it bounced off his hands and into the hands of Browns receiver Emmanuel Ogbuechi for a 45-yard touchdown.
So Cleveland salvaged a tie, right?
Wrong. They went for two on the next play and failed. Washington 24, Cleveland 23.
