Here’s the First Sick Goal of the 2014-15 Hockey Season (Video)
Did you know there is now a champions league of European hockey? Well there is. It’s called, cleverly enough, the Champions Hockey League. It features teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, France, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Slovakia, and Sweden. And 2014-15 is its inaugural season.
So why do I bring this up? I bring this up because today we have an amazing goal from Champions Hockey League play.
It comes to us from 20-year-old Vincent Praplan. On Friday, his Kolten Flyers (Switzerland) played their first ever Champions Hockey League game against HV71 Jönköping (Sweden), and despite losing 3-2, Praplan had the play of the night. He took a pass from a teammate in the neutral zone, did a spin-o-rama to get around one defender, chipped the puck past two more, darted past them, then had his way with the HV71 keeper.
Take a look:
That was a sick goal. Don’t be surprised if this kid ends up on an NHL roster in the coming years.
And for those of you who noticed the Kolten player wearing the different colored jersey, apparently in Europe a team’s top scorer does that sometimes…which is different than the way we do it in North America, and therefore stupid.
