Eastern Illinois Football Player Ejected For Punching a Minnesota Player in the Junk (GIF)

If given the opportunity, the Eastern Illinois Panthers would probably take a do-over on their season opener last night. They played the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Minnesota, and they didn’t just lose. They got pounded, 42-20.

In fact, it was so bad that some of the Panthers players just wanted to punch somebody in the nuts. And we know this because, in the fourth quarter, one of them did punch somebody in the nuts.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Minnesota had a 3rd & 1 on the Eastern Illinois eight-yard line. Then, after they picked up three yards to make it 1st & goal, Eastern Illinois linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill decided he’d had enough. So he punched Minnesota offensive lineman Zac Epping in the junk.

Take a look:

Grugier-Hill was pretty sly, but the referee was right there and saw the whole thing. And since Grugier-Hill had already been assessed one personal foul in the game, the ref was in no mood to show him mercy.

Verdict: ejection.

Lesson: think twice before you punch your opponent in the nuts. Or maybe, in the name of brotherhood, just take that option off the table altogether.
