Here’s DeAngelo Williams Wearing Goggles During a Press Conference, Like You Do (Pic)
Why was Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams wearing goggles while speaking with the media at his locker after practice yesterday? Because former teammate Steve Smith told him to.
Smith, of course, is a five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who was drafted by the Panthers in 2001 and played 13 seasons with the Panthers. However, the 35-year-old was unceremoniously cut back in March, and that hurt his feelings and prompted him to issue a warning about what would happen if he wound up playing against his former club this year.
That warning? “Put your goggles on,’cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere.”
Of course, Smith would go on to sign a three-year contract (with a $3.5 million signing bonus) with the Baltimore Ravens. And the Ravens are hosting the Panthers on Sunday…which explains how this came about:

Well played, Mr. Williams. Now, let’s see if you do in fact need them out on the field.
