Michael Phelps Arrested for DUI, Speeding in Maryland
Why was Michael Phelps arrested? Why is it so hard for famous rich people to get drivers or just NOT DRIVE DRUNK?
Those questions will likely never be answered, but it’s all moot now for Phelps, who was picked up in Maryland for speeding and then taken in for DUI when he failed a field sobriety tests. As if that wasn’t enough, police had stopped Michael Phelps after he was caught going 84 mph in a 45 mph zone.
That’s speeding, folks.
Getting Michael Phelps arrested might not have much of an impact on his athletic career, but this, combined with a couple other questionable encounters, like smoking pot in a photo, may adversely impact his endorsements. Although, his starpower really is quadrennial, so during the other three years, he’s not a huge asset anyway.
Just so we’re not focusing solely on another arrest story, we’re happy to report that he still has 18 gold medals, which makes him a complete badass in his sports world. Unfortunately, his DUI charge makes him anything but that in the real world.
