Pablo Sandoval Makes a Great Foul Ball Catch and Averts Disaster (Video)

Pablo Sandoval

Pablo Sandoval had a great catch against the Pittsburgh Pirates for two reasons:

  1. It was a really athletic grab that forced him to extend over the railing to the dugout.
  2. He had the presence of mind to hang on to that railing like grim death after he took a header over it.

If it wasn’t for point 2, we would almost certainly be talking about Pablo Sandoval and his neck injury, rather than Pablo Sandoval and his catch.

Of course, there were many highlights in this game for Giants fans (for Pirates fans, far fewer), but this foul ball catch certainly tops the list.

So take a look at the video and enjoy the fact that we didn’t have to watch this guy fall on a player in the dugoutĀ (though that would have been pretty hilarious):

There’s not much else to be said, except that the Giants were firing on all cylinders last night. A scan of the Pittsburgh crowd in late innings looked like attendees at a funeral.

Here’s to hoping for a better series in the NLDS, and to Pablo Sandoval’s safe landing.
