The Ron Brooks Injury Will Send Chills Down Your Spine (Video)
The Buffalo Bills had a lot to celebrate yesterday. Their win over the Detroit Lions ended a two-game losing streak, moved them to 3-2 on the year, and put them into first place in the AFC East with the New England Patriots.
That being said, the exuberance they felt was surely mitigated by the very scary Ron Brooks injury in the opening quarter.
The Buffalo cornerback was on special teams covering a punt return when he got taken out by a low block from Detroit safety Jerome Couplin. The impact sent Brooks head over heels, and he then landed on the top of his head, absorbing the entire force of the impact with his neck.
Take a look:
What followed was a 10 minute delay fraught with anxiety while medical staff loaded Brooks onto a spine board before taking him to the hospital.
The good news is that Brooks was able to wave to the crowd on his way off the field and, after spending the night in the hospital, CT scans came back negative. So as of now it does seem like he escaped the worst-case scenarios. But that doesn’t mean he won’t miss a few games. Even minor neck injuries can be a real pain in the…well, you know.
