Amazing Russell Wilson Scramble and Pass to Marshawn Lynch Turns 15 Yard Loss Into 30 Yard Gain (Video)
The good news is that, last night in D.C., we finally got a nationally televised NFL game that wasn’t a blowout. Seattle only beat Washington 27-17.
The bad news is that, if not for three stupid Seahawks penalties that got three Percy Harvin touchdowns called back, it would have been 48-17. So really, it was a blowout. And this amazing Russell Wilson scramble is one of the reasons why.
In the third quarter, on a 3rd and 4 from the Washington 50, Wilson took a snap in shotgun formation, faked a handoff to Marshawn Lynch, and dropped back only to find two Washington players all over him. For the vast majority of NFL quarterbacks, at that point the goal would have been to throw the ball out of bounds to avoid a major loss of yardage. But not Wilson. He rolled backward to his right drawing more defenders toward him, then found Lynch open at the line of scrimmage, and he ran the ball 30 yards downfield.
Thus, what would have been a 15 yard loss for most teams turned into a 30 yard gain.
Take a look:
Yep, Russell Wilson is really, really good.
So are the Seahawks.
