The Red River Rivalry Goes to the Stadium Parking Lot with This Brawl (Video)

Red River Rivalry

The Red River Rivalry is a competition between Texas and Oklahoma, two states that aren’t exactly averse to sorting their issues out with brutal violence when all else fails. Apparently, all else failed between these OU and UT fans, because they’re out in the Cotton Bowl parking lot beating the hell out of each other for reasons that are probably completely unimportant and petty.

Maybe one guy said the southern bank of the Red River was the more majestic side, and then the Oklahoma fans took offense, got some buddies, and started to throw down.

This Red River Rivalry (I hope that’s as fun to read as it is to type) brawl looks like a weird hybrid of a street fight and a maypole dance, which makes it vaguely entertaining. What’s not at all entertaining is the way this video is shot. I can’t blame the photographer for not wanting to get too close, but I am extremely comfortable blaming him or her for using portrait instead of landscape orientation to shoot the thing. I wish there were some art school students walking nearby so they could jump the videographer.

Here’s the video in question:

I haven’t seen this many people run while fighting since Braveheart. It looks like they’re on rollerblades, they’re cruising around so much.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

I have no idea if that’s true or not. Probably, a lot of people were hurt. It was a brawl among morons. But I wanted a nice line to finish the article, so…

Luckily, no one was hurt.
