Barry Bonds First Pitch Reminds Baseball Fans to Hate the Giants (Video)

For the last couple of years, hating the St. Louis Cardinals has been all the rage. However, last night’s Barry Bonds first pitch prior to Game 4 of the NLCS between those Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants served as a helpful reminder to baseball fans everywhere that the Giants are worthy of our righteous indignation, too.

I’m not even referring to the fact that Bonds cheated to break baseball’s most sacred records, either. That is certainly an unfortunate fact that we all have to live with, but it’s not the end of the world. Everyone knows Hank Aaron is still the legit home run king.

No, I am simply referring to the fact that Bonds was one of the most unlikable guys in baseball even without steroids. Was he a bad person? Probably not. But he sounded like a bad person in interviews. And that’s really all we need to channel all our personal feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt into a burning hatred for one man.

So you would think the Giants would want to not remind everyone of their association with Bonds on national television. But there he was, fresh off of hip surgery and hobbling around on crutch, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at AT&T Park last night:

First the Giants go and reach the NLCS three times in five years, winning two World Seres. Now they rub Barry Bonds in our face.

Go Royals, amiright?
