Puck to the Head Sends Penguins Forward Pascal Dupuis Off on a Stretcher (Video)

Pascal Dupuis puck to the head

Scary incident in Pittsburgh last night, as veteran Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis was hit on the back of the head by a Kris Letang snap shot.

The Penguins were up 2-1 on the Stars midway through the second period and were cycling the puck in the offensive zone when Dupuis was knocked down by a crosscheck from Dallas defenseman (and former Penguin) Alex Goligoski. Dupuis was then down on the ice for a few moments with his head down when Letang fired a shot on goal, hitting Dupuis right in the back of the head.

It must have taken a few moments for the impact to take effect. Dupuis got up at first, then signaled to the bench that he was in trouble before collapsing onto the ice.

Play was halted for a good five minutes while the Penguins medical team stabilized Dupuis and took him off the ice on a stretcher.

Have a look:

Dupuis is a pretty tough guy, as are all hockey players (and coaches), but not even he could withstand a puck to the back of the head.

Hopefully he’ll make a full and speedy recovery.
