Shocking Video: Ukrainian Girl Nearly Killed by Debris from Soccer Stadium Damaged by Bomb Blast
A Ukrainian girl was nearly killed on Monday when shockwaves from a bomb blast damaged the glass facade of the Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine. The girl was minding her own business outside the stadium when the blast sent a huge chunk of glass and metal crashing to the ground, missing her by just a few feet.
Donbass Arena is normally home to top Ukrainian soccer club FC Shakhtar Donetsk. However, they’ve been training in the city of Lviv since the escalation of hostilities between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian separatist forces back in July.
Amazingly, the girl’s close call was caught on a nearby CCTV camera. Take a look:
Later that day FC Shakhtar tweeted news of the damage to the stadium:

At this point it’s unknown who is responsible for the blast that damaged the stadium. Pro-Russian rebels claim it was the Ukrainians, citing this video of one of their press conferences being interrupted by a bomb blast as evidence:
And while this may be the case, I wouldn’t necessarily take the word of a bunch of Putin-backed rebels.
Regardless of who’s to blame for the destruction, though, none of it seems to be affecting the team that normally plays in Donbass Arena. They annihilated Belorussian side BATE Borisov 7-0 in Champions League action on Tuesday.
