Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico Were Making Monday Night Football Protein Shakes in the Booth Last Night (Video)
Last night’s Eagles-Panthers game got a little out of hand by the fourth quarter, with chicken finger-lovin’, cheesesteak eatin’ second string quarterback Mark Sanchez leading Philly to a commanding 45-7 lead. So it’s not terribly surprising that Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico got a little bored up in the ESPN broadcast booth.
What is surprising, however, is that, in their boredom, they somehow arrived at the conclusion that making Monday Night Football protein shakes would be a great way to kill time. So they busted out some fruit, some Chuckie’s protein powder, and a blender that they just happened to have lying around the booth, and had a good old time.
Of course, they named their creation the “Spider 2 Y Banana” shake, after the Spider 2 Y Banana play that Gruden made famous as a head coach and is still obsessed with.
It was some of the weirdest sh*t we’ve ever seen in a sports broadcast booth.
Take a look:
Come on, ESPN. Next time, just cut to some old Pro Bowl footage or maybe some Three Stooges episodes if your guys have absolutely run out of things to talk about. Almost anything is preferable to Monday Night Football protein shakes.
