Titans TE Chase Coffman Fined $30,000 for Cheap Shot on Ravens Coach (Videos)

Chase Coffman takes out Ravens coach

The big lumbering fellow in the grainy video footage you’re about to see is not Big Foot. It’s Tennessee Titans tight end Chase Coffman.

Last week, after the Ravens picked off a Zach Mettenberger pass, Coffman went out of his way to plow into an assistant coach on the Baltimore Ravens sideline, and the incident went completely unnoticed by the media and blogosphere…except for Fox’s Jay Glazer. Yesterday on Fox NFL Sunday, he played the aforementioned grainy video footage of the hit. It clearly shows Coffman reaching out and basically tackling the unsuspecting, unidentified Ravens coach.

Take a look:

Glazer also broke the news that the NFL had fined Coffman $30,000 for the incident. And while it’s unclear if Glazer is the one who brought it to their attention, it is clear that the penalty is too lenient.

Don’t get me wrong, $30,000 is not a slap on the wrist. Coffman is “only” making $750,000 this year. But come one—the guy basically assaulted an opposing coach on the sideline. How was he not suspended?
