Rob Gronkowski Plays Bouncer, Throws “Yapping” Sergio Brown “Out of the Club”…Right Into TV Camera (Video)
It’s no secret that Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski likes to party. So it really should come as no surprise that he described his unnecessary roughness penalty on Colt safety Sergio Brown in night club terms.
Early in the fourth quarter of New England’s 42-20 rout of Indy last night, Gronkowki was tasked with blocking Brown as running back Jonas Gray was running the ball into the endzone for the fourth time. (Gray had a pretty okay game.) However, after Gray had reached the endzone, Gronk just kept on blocking Brown…right out of bounds, face-first into a television camera.
Gronk was immediately flagged for unnecessary roughness, which cost the Pats 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff. Take a look:
So what was with the excessive block? Well, Gronkowski and Brown have a little history. It was while blocking Brown on an extra point in 2012 that Gronk broke his arm. And on the sidelines after the play yesterday, it looked like Gronkowski was telling teammates that Brown has been “talking” all day.
That’s exactly what Gronkowski explained after the game.
“He was just yappin’ at me the whole time,” Gronk explained to CSN New England. “So I took him and threw him out of the club.”
