Watch Arizona’s Rondae Hollis-Jefferson Dunk Over UC Irvine’s 7’6″ Mamadou N’Diaye (Videos)
If you like watching 7’6″ giants getting posterized, you’re going to love this Rondae Hollis-Jefferson dunk.
It comes from last night’s Arizona-UC Irvine game. For a while, it was looking like there might be an upset, as the Anteaters took a three-point lead over the Wildcats into half time. Arizona, of course, is the #2 team in the country. And while they ultimately have no chance of reaching #1, seeing as how the Kentucky Wildcats looked like the 1972 Lakers in dismantling the #5 Kansas Jayhawks the other night, being #2 is still better than being #7 or #15. So Zona really did not want to lose to UC Irvine. But they needed a spark.
The Rondae Hollis-Jefferson dunk was that spark. Down by three with 15 minutes still to play in the second half, the 6’7″ Hollis-Jefferson took a pass in the paint from teammate Stanley Johnson and, despite the fact that UC Irvine’s 7’6″ center, Mamadou N’Diaye, was standing between him and the hoop, Hollis-Jefferson decided he was going to dunk the ball anyway. Which he did.
It was glorious. Take a look:
After that, not surprisingly, it was all Arizona. They outscored the Anteaters 35-17 the rest of the way to win 71-54.
