Last week we brought you Anthony Davis GIFs. This week it’s Stephen Curry GIFs. Why? Because if Anthony Davis is the MVP front-runner at this point in the season, Steph Curry is probably number two.
Let’s start with some numbers, via basketball-reference. First the obvious ones: Curry is 5th in points (23.7) and 5th in assists (7.6). Now the “advanced” ones: Curry is 4th in win shares (3.5), 2nd in player efficiency rating (27.8), and 1st in value over replacement player (8.0).
What does all that mean? It means that, in his sixth season in the NBA, Steph Curry has reached another level and become of the of league’s four or five best players.
However, you don’t have to believe the numbers if you don’t want to. That’s why I made this list of Stephen Curry GIFS. Take a look and believe your eyes.
In Game 4 of Golden State's 2013 playoff series against Denver, Curry single-handedly destroyed the Nuggets in the third quarter. He scored 22 total points, going 4/4 from three-point range and 8/8 from the field. This was one of those three-pointers, and...
27. Fast Break Three
...This was anotherof those three-pointers.
Pro tip for all you NBA players out there: never leave Stephen Curry that open. Ever.
26. Easy Three
What's that? Oh, just a wicked three-quarters-court alley oop pass. No big deal.
25. Epic Alley Oop
"I don't need to run out and cover Curry yet, he's still four feet outsi—oh. Damn."
24. Way Downtown
In Game 4 of the Warriors' first round series against the Clippers in 2014—which was the first game back after the whole Donald Sterling story borke—Stephen Curry buried Los Angeles with 33 points and seven rebounds. That included a whopping seven three pointers, including five in a row in the first quarter.
This GIF is all five of those first quarter threes. Sweetest shot in the game today, isn't it?
23. Game of Threes
Stephen Curry is pure silk. Even his layups are smooth as hell.
22. Layup Floater
Technically, that's good defense. Any team in the NBA would be thrilled if that was the only shot a team could get off them.
Unfortunately, with Steph Curry, these kinds of shots just tend go in.
21. Baseline Floater
In case you haven't notices, Stephen Curry is right handed. The fact that he can also use his left hand to do things like this is what makes him so incredibly dangerous.
In fact, let's take another look at this one...
20. Scoop Shot, Part 1
It's even more beautiful from this angle, isn't it?
19. Scoop Shot, Part 2
Steph Curry isn't a ball hog, like some guy who shall remain nameless (but his name rhymes with Shmoby Dryant). The guy likes to dish it off, too.
18. Sweet Dish
Is Steph Curry the most graceful player in the NBA?
17. Finger Roll
I feel bad for Draymond Green here, but Curry couldn't risk touching him. This was the historic night he dropped 54 on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Draymond would have suffered second degree burns.
16. Poor Draymond Green
Steph Curry put poor 67-year-old Steve Nash on skates.
Of course, Nash is Canadian, so he's very comfortable on skates. But still.
15. Steve Nash on Skates
They don't play defense at the All-Star Game, but this was still gorgeous.
14. Behind-the-Back and Between-the-Legs
If you took a poll of NBA GMs and asked what player they'd want to take the last shot, I have a feeling Stephen Curry would rank pretty high on the list.
"And now, for my next trick, I will hit a running three-pointer on one leg...Ta da!"
12. One-Legged Three-Pointer
George Hill's ankles weren't just broken. They were shattered.
11. George Hill Ankle-Breaker
Yes, it counted. Unfortunately for Curry and the Warriors, they couldn't enjoy it, because that wasn't the end of the third quarter. It was the end of the first half. They gave up 77 points to the Rockets in half a game.
Sure, it was all luck. The Rockets wents 14/18 beyond the arc for 78%, which is INSANE. But it still sucks to have a good half of your own wasted.
10. Half-Court Buzzer-Beater
Actually, on second thought Wesley Matthews, you can just go ahead and sit the f**k down.
9. Let's Dance
Like I said, Steph Curry doesn't just shoot. The man can dish as well as any PG in the league.
Well okay, maybe not Ricky Rubio...
8. Amazing Assist
This is from a Capri Sun commercial...not that this knowledge makes it any less amazing.
I bet Stephen Curry hasn't lost a game of horse in 15 years.
6. Tunnel Three
Just another midrange jumper from Steph Curry. Yawn.
5. From Way, Way Downtown
That's not even a reverse layup. That's a "spun-around, falling down" layup.
4. Circus Layup
Don't feel bad, bro. This happens to everyone.
3. Behind-the-Back Crossover
At first I thought Curry was killing time until Davis Lee came to set a pick. However, the longer I looked at this one, the more I realized that Lee doesn't really set a pick. Gary Neal just cannot keep up.
2. Slick Moves
Yeah, we get it, Stephen Curry. You're really, really good.
