Ref Knocked Out by Elbow to the Head During Tipoff (Video)
Every sports fan has wanted to personally strangle and/or punch a referee in the face at one point or another. It’s the nature of sports. We get riled up sometimes.
However, only deranged soccer fans actually do it. The rest of us have a little thing called impulse control. So instead, we all have to live vicariously through moments like the one you are about to see.
Last night in college hoops action, #25 Utah hosted #8 Wichita State. However, regulation ended with the teams tied at 60 points a piece…so they went to overtime…which meant there would be one last tipoff. That’s when it happened. On the OT tipoff, one of the Shockers players came down on top of referee David Hall and accidentally hit him on the head with his elbow. That sent Hall stumbling to the floor, where he then did a comical backward summersault.
Take a look:
That would be pretty funny, if not for the fact that it was actually fairly serious. David Hall would have to leave the game after being helped off the court, and it wouldn’t come as a shock to hear the guy has a concussion.
Meanwhile, the game, which Utah won 69-68, finished with just two officials.
Get well soon, Dave.
