Here’s the Point That Let Kobe Pass MJ on the All-Time Scoring List (Videos)
Over the weekend, a bucket fell that let Kobe pass MJ on the NBA’s all-time scorers list, putting the beleaguered Laker in the #3 position in history, behind Kareem Abdul-Jabaar and Karl “The Mailman” Malone.
The news story was a refreshing departure from a parade of passive-aggressive and regular-aggressive behavior from the Lakers star as his team resides at the bottom of the league standings.
Here’s the buckey that brought some good news and had Kobe pass MJ as the third leading scorer in NBA history:
I’m not sure if the fact that it comes on a free throw is a good thing or a bad thing. Sure, it builds drama and makes the moment stand out, but I’m sure Kobe would have preferred some drifting jumper at the top of the key. Oh well. Good problems to have.
After seeing Kobe pass Michael Jordan, the Lakers made some special accommodations for the Black Mamba by running to Walgreens and decking out the team plane. PARTY TIME!
Judging from that video, they also gave Kobe a headless woman to hug.
They pulled out all the stops.
