This Sen’Derrick Marks Sack Was Worth $600,000 (Video)
When you saw Thursday Night Football’s matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars on the schedule this week, there’s a good chance you said to yourself, “This has to be the most meaningless game ever!”
Well, you’re probably right. Just don’t tell that to Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks.
You see, Marks had an incentive clause inserted into his contract last December that would pay him an extra $600,000 if he racked up at least eight sacks this season. Seeing as how he had only accumulated a total of seven sacks in his first five seasons in the league, no one probably thought that incentive would ever come into play. But with Marks sitting at 7.5 sacks on the season heading into Thursday’s contest, it did.
And on the final play of the game, with the Jags trying to protect a 21-13 lead, Marks recorded his first sack of the game, clinching the win for his team, and a $600,000 bonus for himself. And he celebrated accordingly, throwing his hands in the air while doing his own Johnny Manziel money sign.
