Islanders Reporter Shannon Hogan Forgets Name of Player She’s Interviewing (Video)

islanders reporter forgets name

Islanders reporter Shannon Hogan had a moment she’d probably like to forget during the first intermission of Monday night’s Islanders-Capitals game at the Nassau Coliseum. The guys in the booth threw it to her for an interview with Isles center Anders Lee, who had scored the first period’s only goal, and she totally blanked on his name and had to ask him who he was.

Now obviously, Hogan knew who Anders Lee was. The 29-year-old journalist is a pro, and she’s been covering the Islanders for MSG since August. These things just happen sometimes. The other day I couldn’t remember who won the Super Bowl last year, but I wasn’t on live TV so no one witnessed my brain cramp. Being a sideline reporter is a hell of a lot harder than being a sports blogger. Names and stats and other information is being thrown at sideline reporters constantly, and they have to process it and report on the spot.

So I feel for Hogan. Blanking on the name of the player you are interviewing is pretty awkward.

Take a look:

That was about as smooth a recovery as possible under the circumstances, playing it off as a joke. But I don’t think anyone bought it.
