Cristiano Ronaldo’s Son Meets Messi at Ballon d’Or Ceremony (Video)
With the way the media portrays their rivalry, you’d think Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi despise each other so much that they’d never allow their own child to speak to their counterpart. But there’s really no true hatred between these two soccer stars—at least nothing beyond what you’d typically expect from two players who play for rival club teams.
They are both true competitors who want to be the best at what they do, and it just so happens that each of them does it very well. As a result, they always seem to find themselves battling one another for the title of “best player in the world.” But that doesn’t mean Cristiano Ronaldo’s son can’t be a fan of Lionel Messi. And it definitely doesn’t mean Cristiano Jr. can’t go up to Messi and say “hi” when he sees him.
In fact, that’s exactly what happened at the Balon d’Or ceremony on Monday. You can watch it in the video below (Cristiano Ronaldo’s son meets Messi at the 0:26 mark):
For those in need of a translation, here it is via YouTube commenter Andrea V:
Cristiano to his son: “Look, who’s comimg. Do you want to go over to him?”
Leo to the boy: “What’s up, how are you doing? Fine?”
Cristiano to Leo: “My son watched a video of all of us and he talks about you.”
Cristiano jokingly to his son: “Are you embarrassed now?”
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. is a Lionel Messi fan. Who would have imagined?
