Bill Belichick Deflategate Press Conference: Coach Says He Doesn’t Know Much About Balls (Video)
You know how you can tell the Patriots are really in trouble with the NFL? Because at the Bill Belichick deflategate press conference today, the legendary Pats coach actually spoke at length and attempted to provide genuine answers to questions from reporters. And you just don’t see that very often.
Belichick still has his usual scowl on his face, though. If you act too different, people start to get suspicious.
So what did Bill have to say about all the hoopla surrounding those 11 deflated game balls? In a nutshell, he said that he was “shocked,” that he really doesn’t know much about balls, and that if you want to know more about how Tom Brady likes his balls, you’ll have to ask Gise—er, Tom Brady.
“In my entire coaching career,” Belichick explained, “I have never talked to any player or staff member about football air pressure.”
Personally, I find it very hard to believe that a meticulous football mastermind like Bill Belichick has never once had a conversation with a quarterback about ball firmness. But that’s just me.
Here’s the entire press conference. If you have a few minutes to spare, it’s worth a watch just to see Belichick squirm:
