Disgruntled WWE Fans Create #ThingsBetterThanTheRoyalRumble Hashtag

The WWE took a lot of heat for handing last year’s Royal Rumble—and a spot in the WrestleMania XXX main event—to Batista, rather than give one of the company’s other much-more-deserving wrestlers a shot at the title (see: Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, and Dolph Ziggler).  So you’d think they would have given the fans in Philadelphia what they wanted last night during the 2015 edition of the Royal Rumble, right?

The WWE Universe would have loved to see Daniel Bryan get another shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXXI (especially after he had to relinquish the title in May 2014 due to injury). They wouldn’t have minded seeing someone like Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, or Rusev win the Royal Rumble, either.  One man who they didn’t feel was ready for his shot to main-event the company’s biggest show was Roman Reigns.  So when the former member of the Shield was the last man standing, the boos rained down on him inside the Wells Fargo Center.  Not even an appearance from The Rock could save Roman Reigns and the WWE from the public scrutiny they were about to endure.

The criticism for another sub-par Royal Rumble has been loud and clear from the WWE Universe, but perhaps none of their showings of disapproval is better that the creation of the Twitter hashtag #ThingsBetterThanTheRoyalRumble.

Here are some of the best things that fans felt were better than Sunday night’s Royal Rumble:

Great stuff, WWE Universe. Give yourselves a pat on the back.
