Amazing Tuukka Rask Paddle Save Denies Michael Grabner the Easy Goal (Video)

How good is this Tuukka Rask paddle save from last night’s Bruins-Islanders game? So good that even Bruins homer Jack Edwards couldn’t overstate it. And that’s saying something.

The Bruins were up 2-0 on the first place Islanders (not a typo, look it up) about five minutes into the second period. Isles defenseman Brian Strait got the puck at the point and fired a shot wide right that caromed off the boards to Nikolay Kulemin. Kulemin then shoveled the puck across the crease, where Michael Grabner gave it a whack into what looked like a wide open net.

Unfortunately for Grabner, Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask managed to fling his stick across the crease just in time to stop the puck from crossing the line.

The boisterous crowd at the Nassau Coliseum (again, not a typo, they really were boisterous) was stunned. They thought it was in.

Take a look:

Hell of a save, there.

The Islanders would eventually tie the game up about 10 minutes later, but the Bruins responded with three more goals to earn the 5-2 win.
