Done Deal: Malcolm Butler Gets Brady’s MVP Truck
Remember when Tom Brady claimed he was going to do what he could to give Malcolm Butler his Super Bowl MVP truck last week? Well the New England Patriots quarterback has stayed true to his word and as of yesterday, Butler is now the proud owner of a brand new red Chevrolet Colorado truck.
At this time last week, there were rumors that the swap could hit a road block because of additional charges and taxes that Brady could incur as a result. But they, along with the help of Chevrolet, were able to avoid that issue and on Tuesday, at a dealership just eight miles from Gillette Stadium, Chevy officially presented Malcolm Butler with his new Chevy Colorado.
Unfortunately for the undrafted rookie cornerback, nothing in life is free, including a Super Bowl MVP truck. According to Robert Raiola, an accountant at O’Connor Davies in New Jersey, if Butler makes the Patriots next season he will be in the top tax bracket and will have to pay over $15,000 in federal and state income taxes on the truck.
But hey, paying $15,000 for a $35,000 truck that comes with a great story that you can tell your kids about? Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.
