Karl Malone Issues Standing Offer to “Knuckle Up” with Kobe Bryant in Amazing HuffPost Interview
I have no idea why Karl Malone, retired for 11 years now, stopped by the Huntington Post offices this week to do an interview with Marc Lamont Hill for HuffPost Live. But I’m definitely glad he did. Hill asked the Mail Man about his feud with Kobe Bryant, which supposedly started after Malone hit on Kobe’s wife, Vanessa. And his answer was two and a half minutes of awesomeness.
“If Kobe don’t like me today,” Malone explained after pointing out that he’s a grown man, “that’s Kobe Bryant’s fault. It ain’t mine…I don’t have a beef with nobody, because I come in peace, but I do prepare for war if I have to.”
Seriously, he said “I come in peace.” Fantastic!
Next question: do you feel tension when you see him? “I don’t feel tension,” Malone starts. “But you gotta understand, Mark, I’m a hutner. So I’m already right there anyway…I’m ready at all times.”
Then came the best part. “I love Western. I’m old-school Western,” started Malone, who really struggles with plurals. “Back in the day when you had a beef, you didn’t go get guns and knife, you just ‘hey Mark I gotta problem,’ we just go in the back with no cameras, no nothing, and let’s just knuckle up and get it over with.”
Followup question: did you ever make that offer to Kobe? “No,” Malone says. “But it’s standing—with anybody.”
So there you have it. Kobe Bryant, you, and everyone you know has a standing offer to fight Karl Malone. How great is that?
