There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t take part in the running of the bulls, from the fact that a flight to Spain is expensive, to the fact that the whole thing is unnecessarily cruel to the animals. However, the biggest reason not to take part in the running of the bulls has nothing to do with economics or the ethical treatment of animals, and everything to do with not getting gored in the sphincter by a bull. Because getting gored in the sphincter by a bull would be extremely painful and humiliating.
If you don’t believe it, just ask college student Benjamin Miller. The 20-year-old Georgia native was celebrating the Carnaval del Toro in Ciudad Rodrigo, Spain, on Saturday, and he thought it would be fun to run with the bulls. But he could not have been more wrong. You see, Miller was running alongside a particularly aggressive bull at the exact moment the bull decided he’d had enough of this sh*t. And the result was severe injuries to Miller’s thighs, back, and sphincter.
“It’s not the worst injury I’ve seen, but it’s the biggest goring wound I’ve ever had to operate on,” said the doctor who performed the three-hour operation to close up Miller’s new asshole.
Amazingly, the whole thing was caught on film—er, digital storage device. Take a look:
Yeah, don’t run with the bulls, kids.
