Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith are not exactly NBA superstars. But they are good, valuable players, and they were the only real assets the putrid New York Knicks could actually sell off ahead of the NBA trade deadline. So on January 5 they pulled the trigger on a deal that sent them both to Cleveland for a couple of “who?” guys and a second round pick in 2019.

Of course, you would never know that Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith are not superstars from the way they played yesterday. Making their first return to Madison Square Garden as members of the Cavaliers, Shumpert dished the ball to Smith for a badass reverse alley-oop dunk a few minutes into the fourth quarter to give their new team a whopping 30-point lead over their old one.

You gotta figure Knicks fans were thinking, “where the hell has that been the last few years?” But of course, what they have to remember is that, for the last few years, Shumpert and Smith haven’t had the privilege of playing against the Knicks.
