This Play at the Plate From the Arkansas-Vandy Game Will Amaze You (Video)
Allow me to set the stage for you:
It was the bottom of the tenth inning, runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out, and the score tied 7-7 during Game #1 of Saturday’s SEC doubleheader between Arkansas and Vanderbilt at Vandy’s Hawkins Field. With the count at 2-2, Commodores first baseman Zander Weil hit a shallow fly ball to right field, resulting in the wildest play at the plate you’re probably ever going to see.
Check it out:
Just when it looked like Vandy had won the game in the tenth, a miraculous play by the Razorbacks catcher to flip the ball to his pitcher covering home (and a miraculous decision by the pitcher to cover home in the first place!) allowed the Razorback to live another inning…
…so that they could eventually lose to Vanderbilt in the 12th inning, 8-7.
