Leah Still Update: Latest Tests Suggest 4-Year-Old Is Beating Cancer (Pic)
The latest Leah Still update is a good one. According to Cincinnati Bengals free agent Devon Still, the latest tests on his four-year-old daughter have given them reason to believe she might be on the mend.
“We got Leah’s MIBG Scans back tonight,” Still said in an Instagram post, “and the doctors told us they didn’t see any active disease in her body!!!”
This does not mean Leah is out of the woods yet. They are still awaiting results from an MRI and a bone biopsy, which will come in later this week. But doctors say the MIBG results left them feeling very optimistic, which is absolutely fantastic news considering they had previously given her just a 50-50 chance of survival.
No wonder they feel like flexing.
That moment you get the best news you’ve ever received and don’t know what to do so you just flex!! We got Leah’s MIBG Scans back tonight and the doctors told us they didn’t see any active disease in her body!!! We still have to wait for her MRI and bone biopsy results later this week. But the doctors feel very optimistic about them because of the results from today. So for now we celebrate!! #LeahStrong #PrayersWork #ThankYouEveryOne #ImSoHappyIFeelNumb #BeatCancer
As you probably recall, the plight of Leah Still and her dad became one of the biggest feel-good stories of 2014. The Bengals cut Still from their 53-man roster during training camp but signed him to their practice squad a week later so he’d keep his health insurance. Then they announced that proceeds from the sale of Still’s #75 jersey would benefit children’s pediatric cancer research, and soon the entire NFL had rallied around him.
Now it looks like we might actually get the outcome we’ve all been praying for.
