Pouncey Brothers Rip Mike Wallace in Interview, Take It Back on Social Media (Video)

Something went down on the Miami Dolphins sideline during their Week 17 loss against the New York Jets that got wide receiver Mike Wallace benched and, a few months later, traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

Since then, everyone close to the situation has refused to say what happened. However, this week the Pouncey Brothers gave an interview with CBS 4 Miami. And while they didn’t say what happened, they did have some choice words for Wallace.

First up was Maurkice Pouncey. Obviously, he doesn’t play for the Dolphins, but he did play with Wallace for a few years in Pittsburgh. So he had an opinion:

“First of all, in my opinion, he’s a coward. I never want a guy on my team like that to walk out on your band of brothers. Forget the things that don’t happen in the game. Say, you don’t get the ball a lot, or you mess up and they pull you out. Forget all that. It’s about playing for your brothers.”

Then Mike Pouncey, the guy who actually plays for the Dolphins, weighed in:

“I think the offseason is a time to speak your mind. Obviously our organization felt a way about some guys and they got those guys out of our football team. I think it was the right move for everybody, because at the end of the day, if everyone is not on the same page, you’re not going to win football games. It takes 11 and not 10. So I’m glad that we moved on from that and I just can’t wait to see where we go from here.”

And just in case you don’t trust my transcribin’ skillz, here’s a snippet of the interview:

Boy, the Pouncey Brothers sure had some harsh words for Mike Wallace. Or did they? Late Tuesday, Maurkice posted an Instagram message saying he was NOT specifically talking about Mike Wallace, but about the situation in general.

Now I see why Marshawn Lynch gives the media short phrases!

Personally, I’m not buying it. Pouncey was obviously talking about someone specific. If it wasn’t Mike Wallace, then who was it? My guess is that he regretted speaking so candidly about a guy he might actually see again socially, so he took it back and blamed the media.

The good news for Maurkice is that Mike Wallace totally bought it:

Whatever helps you sleep at night, Mike Wallace.
