Cyclist Gets Blown Off the Road. A Crash Ensues. (Video)
Wind can be a very frustrating thing when you’re just walking to the office—never mind if you’re a cyclist who’s got a bit more at stake. Cyclist Geraint Thomas learned this recently during a race, when he was blown off the road into the gutter with a gust of wind. The patchy surface quickly proved too much for the cyclist, who almost immediately went inverted on his bike.
Here’s the video:
The incident took place in a stage in which only 39 of 200 cyclists were able to finish. Think about that ratio for a second. Pretty freaky.
Amazingly, the Welshman was able to get back up on his bike after the wreck and managed to finish third in the stage. Don’t say toughness doesn’t count for anything in cycling.
