The Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Will Cost $99 on PPV
For those of you who thought that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is a gift from God, you might be right about the second part (it being delivered by God), but the PPV pricing indicates that this fight is no gift. In fact, it’s really, really, expensive. Which should come as no surprise considering a) boxing promoters are some of the greediest people in the universe, and b) this is the first truly relevant boxing match in over a decade.
The fight will come in at a cool $99, which isn’t so bad if you split it up with a ton of your friends, but is still a high-water mark for boxing PPV. It merits noting that if you, for some weird reason, wanted to get a non-HD version of the fight, that would be $89—because it probably costs about $10 to carry an HD signal to your house for three hours. That makes sense.
I guess Pacquiao and Mayweather are using that money to get more insanely well-tailored suits like the ones above after they beat the crap out of each other. That seems reasonable.
