Amazing George Springer Catch Denies Rangers Walk-Off Grand Slam (Video)
Houston Astros outfielder George Springer really likes playing in Arlington. Last July he made a leaping grab up against the center field wall to rob Texas’ Alex Rios of extra bases. And on Sunday he made a leaping grab up against the right field wall to rob Texas’ Leonys Martin of a walk-off grand slam.
Springer’s latest act of grand larceny came with the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 10th with the bases juiced and two outs. Leonys Martin fell behind in the count to Astros reliever Tony Sipp, but then golfed the 0-2 pitch to right field with just enough distance to clear the wall. However, Springer got a bead on it and transformed a walk-off grand slam (or at least a walk-off single) into the third out with a perfectly timed leap.
The best part? The ‘Stros did not let that George Springer catch go to waste. They won the game on a Hank Conger home run in the top of the 14th.
