Carlos Carrasco Takes Line Drive To The Face (Video)
A frightening scene unfolded at Progressive Field tonight, when Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco was struck in the face by a line drive off the bat of White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera.
The play took place in the top of the first inning, as Carrasco was facing just his second batter of the game. Luckily, he was able to get his glove up in time to deflect the ball just a tad, but the impact still left the 28-year-old righty in a considerable amount of pain.
Here’s a look at the play:
Carlos Carrasco was carted off the field and taken for x-rays, which came back negative for facial breaks. Initial tests showed no signs of a concussion either, which is great news, but he’s still being treated for a contusion. No word on how long he’ll be out, but hopefully we’ll see him back on the mound soon.
