Female Pirates Fan Takes Foul Tip To The Head (Video)
Tonight’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park had to be delayed for several minutes after a woman seated behind home plate was struck in the head by a foul tip off the bat of the Cubs’ Starlin Castro.
The woman was behind the netting that protects fans seated behind home plate, but it didn’t appear to do its job in this instance, as she fell to the ground immediately after being hit. Medical personnel attended to her and she was eventually stretchered away after a 23-minute delay in the action.
No word yet on the condition of the female Pirates fan, but according to this tweet, is sounds like she’s going to be okay:
Woman hit in head with Castro’s foul ball taken from field. Appears to be conscious. Friend next to her gives thumbs up to crowd. — Gordon Wittenmyer (@GDubCub) April 21, 2015
That’s great to hear. We’ll try to keep you up-to-date on any further news we receive regarding her condition.
