Watch Everyone Search Pekka Rinne For a Missing Puck During Overtime (Video)
During overtime in the NHL playoffs, there are no commercial breaks or television timeouts. Just one quick scrape of the ice at the halfway point of the period, and that’s it. So you know that most players would welcome any sort of unexpected break during the extra frame, and players on the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators received just that during double-overtime of Game 4 last night.
After stopping a dump-in by the Hawks’ Niklas Hjalmarsson behind his own goal, the puck magically disappeared into the equipment of Preds goalie Pekka Rinne, causing a three-minute delay while everyone tried searching for it.
You can watch the 3-minute search for the disappearing puck in the video below:
Neither team seemed to benefit from the delay, as the game remained tied after the second overtime period. But just one minute into the third extra frame, Brent Seabrook ended it with a slap shot from the point, giving the Blackhawks a 3-2 victory, and a commanding 3-1 series lead.
