UFC Champ Jon Jones Arrested For Felony Hit-and-Run, Turns Himself In
Jon “Bones” Jones has gotten himself into some more trouble, as the UFC light heavyweight champion is facing felony hit-and-run charges in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after he was spotted hitting the car of a pregnant woman before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses say they saw a silver SUV hitting the car of the 25-year-old woman. Moments later, a man fitting Jones’ description was seen taking off. He later returned to the vehicle to grab a stack of cash and stuff it in his pants, before fleeing the scene once again. Police identified the rental vehicle that was left at the scene as belonging to Jones, and they also found a pipe with marijuana inside.
Jon Jones is currently in police custody, and because the woman sustained a broken arm in the accident, he will now be charged with leaving the scene of a crime, which is a felony that could carry jail time if he’s convicted.
This is just the latest dilemma for Jones, who also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DWI for an incident back in May 2012, and this past December he tested positive for cocaine prior to his fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182. He escaped any significant punishment following both of those incidents, but the champ may not be so lucky this time around.
