Adrian Peterson Cowboys Trade? Running Back Admits It “Would Be Nice”
Faint rumors of Adrian Peterson being traded to the Cowboys have been emanating from the NFL rumor mill for the last few weeks. However, for the most part it’s all been nothing more than speculation based on the fact that Peterson is from Texas, the fact that his relationship with the Vikings is rocky at best, and the fact that the Cowboys clearly have no moral objection to signing players who beat women and children. (See Hardy, Greg.)
Now, though, Peterson himself has thrown a log on that fire. On Tuesday night he and his lawyer attended the Houston Rockets’ game against the Dallas Mavericks, and when Dallas’ WFAA-TV asked Peterson about playing for the Cowboys, he said “it would be nice.”
Nice? It would be nice?! Obviously it’s a done deal and Adrian Peterson is a Dallas Cowboy…unless you believe Vikings GM Rick Spielman. Earlier Tuesday, he told members of the media “we can just end the Adrian Peterson stuff” because the 2012 NFL MVP ain’t going anywhere.
But of course, it’s hard to take the Vikings’ word for it. When it comes to handling the Adrian Peterson child abuse situation, they’ve flip-flopped and flop-flipped. And we all know that when a star player wants out, he usually gets his way.
Maybe Peterson will wind up in silver and blue yet.
