Amazing Idiot Runs Onto Field at Cardinals Game and Does Somersault Across Home Plate (Videos)
Monday night’s Cubs-Cardinals game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis was absolutely wild.
The Cubs tagged Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez for five runs in the top of the first, but Cardinals first baseman Mark Reynolds cracked a grand slam off Cubs starter Travis Wood in the bottom half to get the home team right back in it.
The Cubs pushed the lead to four again by tacking on runs in the second, fourth, and sixth, but the Cardinals scored four in the bottom of the seventh to take a 10-8 lead.
The Cubs made it 10-9 with a two out, two strike Addison Russell homer in the top of the ninth, but Dexter Fowler then lined out to first to end the game.
And right in the middle of all that? One of the best fan on the field incidents we’ve seen in a long, long time.
Don’t get me wrong. Running onto the field is stupid. It’ll get you arrested, banned from the stadium, and fined, and you shouldn’t do it. But. If you do run onto the field, make the most of it. Evade security and somersault across home plate. Like this guy:
Now, it’s only fair to mention that this guy had help. Right before he made his mad dash for home plate, an accomplice ran onto the field and got apprehended. It was then, when security guards thought their job was done, that this guy struck.
Interestingly, I’ve seen a lot of stories about this guy that assume he’s a Cardinals fan. However, tons of Cubs fans travel to St. Louis when the teams play there, just as tons of Cardinals fans travel to Chicago when the teams play at Wrigley. So I’d say there’s a 50% chance he was a Cubs fan. Getting banned from Busch Stadium for life would make you a hero in Wrigleyville.
