Paul Pierce Trash Talk to Atlanta Bench After Late Three Backfires Big Time (Pic)
If you can’t believe the guy they call The Truth, who can you believe?
Late in Game 5 between the Wizards and Hawks on Wednesday night, a Paul Pierce turnover led to an easy layup and an 80-78 lead for the Hawks. However, on the next possession, Pierce redeemed himself by hitting a corner three to give the Wizards an 81-80 lead with 8.3 seconds left on the clock.
At that moment, it sure seemed like that was the ballgame, and that Pierce had added another clutch game-winner to his illustrious résumé. So he turned around and yelled “SERIES” at the Hawks bench. Or at least, that’s what he said according to those who were sitting within earshot, like AJC beat reporter Chris Vivlamore.
After Paul Pierce hit go-ahead 3-pointer, he looked at Hawks bench and said “Series.”

And that certainly sounds like something Pierce would say. The guys loves to talk trash.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, the Paul Pierce trash talked backfired. On the ensuing possession, Al Horford won the game for the Hawks with a monster rebound and putback.
So not series, eh Paul Pierce?
