Did Racist Juventus Fans Force Black Man Off Subway Car in Madrid? (Video)
On Wednesday, Italian giants Juventus upset Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal, advancing to play Barcelona in the finals. Unfortunately, to celebrate, a horde of racist Juventus fans kicked a black man off a subway car.
That’s the story the British tabloids are pushing. And if it gives you a strong feeling of deja vu, there’s a good reason for that. Just three months ago, a horde of racist Chelsea fans wouldn’t let a black man on a subway car in Paris before their Champions League match against PSG.
However, it’s not 100% clear that this is what happened in Madrid this week. In the video posted online, you see a black man holding a Juventus scarf get on a packed subway car. Then, a few seconds later, you see one guy open the doors and another push the alleged victim out by his backpack. So it could be a case of racism.
However, it could also be something far less sinister. Nobody seems particularly upset by anything, including the black man. Plus, the guy opening the subway door appears to be a transit employee. So it’s also quite possible that the two white guys were actually just helping the black guy get off.
Don’t take my word for it, though. See for yourself:
Just so we’re clear, I’m not trying to defend anyone. If it turns out that this was definitely another case of soccer fans being racist sh*theads, and not another case of British tabloids creating controversy where there is none, then by all means I’ll be the first to denounce them. I’m just not yet convinced either way, so for now I’m going to withhold judgement.
What do you think?
