American Pharoah wins Belmont Stakes

It finally happened!

Thirty-seven years after Secretariat last did it in 1978, American Pharoah, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Victor Espinoza, ended the long drought and completed the United States’ Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.  He did so in dominant fashion, leading the Belmont Stakes from wire to wire and winning the race in a time of 2:26.55, beating second-place Frosted by five lengths.
