Josh Donaldson Dives Into Stands to Save Perfect Game (Video)

For his second consecutive start, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.  And Estrada was actually pitching a perfect game during today’s no-hit bid against the Tampa Bay Rays.   But with a full count to the Rays’ David DeJesus during the first at bat in the bottom of the eighth, Estrada was in danger of allowing the first Rays baserunner of the afternoon.

No worries, though.  Josh Donaldson was there to save the day:

Unfortunately, there was nothing Donaldson could do to prevent the Rays’ very next batter, Logan Forsythe, from reaching base on a chopper to third:

Estrada survived the inning, and he lasted into the ninth before making way for the Jays bullpen, who held the Rays scoreless until Chris Colabello won it for the Blue-Birds with a solo home run in the 12th inning.
