Check Out the Hornets’ New Alternate Buzz City Pride Uniforms (Gallery)
How many uniforms does one NBA team need? That’s a rhetorical question. Everybody knows the correct answer is four: one home, one away, one away alternate, and one “Pride” uniform. Any team that has fewer than that obviously does not respect its fans (or want their money).
The Charlotte Hornets? They respect their fans (and want their money). So on Thursday, like 10 minutes before the start of the 2015 NBA Draft, they released their new Buzz City Pride uniforms, featuring a black sleeved jersey with the words “Buzz City” across the chest.
“The Pride uniform,” says Hornets COO Fred Whitfield, “is designated to celebrate something local to a team or region, and it was obvious to us that it needed to commemorate Buzz City. Buzz City is about the enthusiasm that our fans have for our team and our city, and this uniform allows us to put that feeling into a physical banner that our players display.”
Um, okay bud.
In any case, here they are:
Obviously, Adidas’ sleeved NBA uniforms are monstrosities. However, except for the awful sleeves, I have to say these uniforms are pretty sharp. The hornet logo on the waistband is great, the colors really pop, and I love the honeycomb-like detailing on the side.
They’re definitely better than the new Clippers uniforms, which I think we can all agree suck.
